In the summer of 2019, I took a class on Solutions Journalism with Melissa Faye Greene, who encouraged us to look beyond the dire headlines we’d become used to and elevate the hopeful stories that left its readers with a little hope. For my own solution story, I chose to highlight a local cemetery’s commitment to honoring its marginalized residents while also creating an event space to help tell their story. This project represents my ability to research and write in long-form journalistic styles.
