Digital Art: Illumination

Using AfterEffects and Photoshop, I was able to create the following .gif file in response to my final project for Visual Thinking, Digital Design. The purpose of the assignment was meant to respond to the contrast between the storage of information in analog and digital formats, and how they may differ. I chose the theme of illumination, and played with the combination of the analog version, with medieval illuminated manuscripts, and the digital, which brought me to a more modern definition, dealing with neon and holiday lights. This project exercised my skills in graphic design and Photoshop.

Illumination, Part 1.
Illumination, Part I. The monkey, man and woman are both from the same manuscript, and the monkey is traveling up an escalator illuminated with neon. The background is a photograph of the illuminated interior of an eye.
Illumination.gif, Part 2
Illumination, Part II. The birds come from the same manuscript, and the background image is a long-exposure photo of Christmas lights.
