Research: Who Bears Witness for the Witnesses?

This research paper was created for my Critical Communications class in the fall of 2018. In CC, we were asked to look critically at the ways people communicate, how we interpret that communication, and what that says about the people on both ends of that relationship. With the advent of the #MeToo movement in the preceding year, and the Blasey Ford hearings in September 2018, I had ample opportunity to examine and consider the rhetoric of victims. But what interested me more was the rhetoric of those who denied the victims or minimized their pain. I wondered: how could people be so cruel? Why would people want to be so cruel to the vulnerable ones opening up, trying to do the right thing?

Since I could find no easy answers to those questions, I knew I had a good research topic for my final paper. This assignment demonstrates my skills in writing and research.
